New Haven Caribbean Heritage Festival 2022

New Haven Caribbean Heritage Festival 2022

The Caribbean Diaspora has always had an impactful contingent in various areas of the United States of America.

Caribbean Nationals have been a part of the rich culture of New Haven since the 1900’s or longer. In 2014 under the Distinguished Patronage of Hon. Mayor Toni N. Harp and the City of New Haven we were invited to showcase our rich culture at City Hall. We had approximately 200 people sharing, learning, reminiscing, tasting and just overall having a “gran ole time”.

The celebration has turned into an annual festival named The New Haven Caribbean Heritage Festival to enjoy performances, delicious Caribbean cuisine, beautiful displays of islands and colorful costumes. This year will be the 7th anniversary of the festival, aptly hosted in June which is dubbed National Caribbean American Heritage Month.

This year, 2022, in the middle of a pandemic we are closing out the Caribbean American Heritage Month (JUNE) by heading downtown New Haven to the Upper Green, in true Caribbean Style – FAMILY TIME, MUSIC, DANCING & FOOD following the State and City’s Covid guidelines. Come out on Sunday June 26th starting at 1pm!

The 2022 planning committee: Karaine Holness, Founder of NHCHF (Jamaica) and

Shermaine Cooke-Edmonds (Dominica)

If you would like to help out in anyway, please contact the festival.

As the old Caribbean proverb goes “Many hands make light work!”
