What is Speed Dating?Speed Dating is an enlightened form of courting whereby a group of single men and women (or men and men OR women and women) play a sort of romantic musical chairs, taking turns to talk to approximately a guh-gillion other dudes and chicks in easily manageable three- to five-minute sessions. First, we strip you of your constructed identity (A rose by any other name...) and replace it with a number. You must proudly bear this number upon your chest, for it is the secret link between you and love. You are given an index card--barbaric, I know, but we have yet to aquire dedicated iPads for GPSS Speed Dating--and you write down the numbers of the ladies or gentlemen who strike your fancy. You'll talk to about 10-12 in the course of an hour. Shortly after the event (say, a few days) we will email you with the "matches:" if you wrote down someone's number and they also wrote down yours, it's destined to be. The rest is up to you... email them, meet them for coffee, ignore them, whatever you want.   When is Speed Dating? Due to increased demand we are having three sessions of Men seeking Women and Women seeking Men Speed Dating this year: one at 7:00 PM, one at 9:00 PM and one at 11:00pm.  You need to arrive about 30 minutes prior to the session's start time to register at the back ballroom bar, it also helps to grab a drink in this time (calm your nerves to highlight your smooth moves). Some have said we look like a GPSS Genius Bar, . We will start SELLING YOUR SPOT, without refund! (money goes to charity afterall...)  if you're not there 10 minutes before the session begins.    We are having one session of Men seeking Men and Women seeking Women Speed Dating: 9:00pm only, in the oft unseen by the public, SENATE CHAMBERS on the 3rd floor of GPSCY. How Much Does it Cost? $10 only if you do it ahead of time, $15 the day of!  This year our spiffy Online Reservation system allows you to 100% lock in your reservation. While it may show up as sold out online, keep checking as spots free up. Also feel free  to shop up the same day due to no-shows opening spots. On the day of the event we're taking cash or plastic now. WAHOO.   If something comes up, no fear, as long as you email GPSSLoveDoctor@gmail.com more than  3 before the event (Feb 15th), we can issue you a refund! Otherwise we're sorry, but know that the money is going to charity!  Register quick, the sooner the better! Where Does My Money Go? This is a charity event!  GPSS is fronting the costs of all of the Speed Dating coordination. We have selected three amazing local organizations to donate the Speed Dating profits towards.  You will even get to vote where to donate the money. Is This Popular?  YES!  THE SESSIONS WILL MEET THEIR 50 PERSON CAP VERY QUICKLY! But have no fear if you miss out on registration. Sometimes people get cold feet at the last moment and don't show up: so consider coming to GPSCY about 15 minutes before your desired session to get on the wait list in case a spot opens up. We will start selling off no-shows precisely 10 minutes before the session begins, so you might have a chance at romance anyway.
